Chess Club - In the first year of existence four students qualified for all state finals! If you love to play chess or would like to learn chess club meets before school Monday-Friday. After school on Thursdays only. Please see Mr. Yandell for more information.

Yearbook Committee - This is for 8th grade students who would like to be a part of the yearbook creation process. Ms. Anderson requests that potential year book committee participants have good grades and no referals. Ms. Anderson would also like those wanting to join to write a letter stating why they would make a good yearbook committee member. Letters are to be given to Ms. Anderson at the beginning of the school year.

Student Council - Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This is a great way to get involved with school fundraisers, dances, and other fun activites. Contact Ms. Truslow or Mrs. Holguin for more info.

Principal Student Advisory Club - Open to all interested students, members of this group meet with Mr. Benavidez to give him feedback about the students’ point of view at Chaparral. We also are involved in school service, such as teacher and student recognition activities; public relations, getting the word out about what’s going on at Chaparral; and philanthropy, raising money for school and community programs such as Special Olympics, the Community Food Bank, the American Red Cross, Youth on Their Own, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We meet at lunch on Mondays and Thursdays. See Ms. Morris is you would like to join us.

After School Program - Free and open to all Chaparral students! The After-School Program hosts various activities. Take a cooking class, play board games, surf the net, and more! Come to the After-School Program Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 3:30pm to 4:45pm.

MESA - Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement is a program that allows students to participate in activities related to math, engineering, and science. For more information please contact Mrs. Olivas.
